Abbott MitraClip™ G4 Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair System
The Abbott MitraClip™ G4 is a next-generation transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) system designed for the minimally invasive treatment of mitral regurgitation (MR) in patients with complex mitral valve disease. Engineered to deliver tailored therapy, optimized procedural control, and durable clinical outcomes, the MitraClip G4 platform features four clip configurations — NT, NTW, XT, and XTW — enabling physicians to adapt treatment based on individual mitral valve anatomy and regurgitation characteristics. The system incorporates advanced Controlled Gripper Actuation (CGA) technology for independent leaflet grasping, enhanced coaptation area, improved leaflet retention, and precise procedural control during transcatheter mitral valve repair procedures. Clinical studies from the EXPAND G4 trial demonstrated high procedural success, significant and durable MR reduction, improved quality of life, and excellent long-term safety outcomes, including MR ≤1+ in a large proportion of patients at one year follow-up. Designed for precision, stability, and workflow efficiency, the MitraClip G4 delivery system supports simplified procedural steps, optimized left atrial access, and stable device orientation for predictable and reproducible clinical performance in structural heart interventions.
